Curvature

Curvature is to measure bends and breaks of seismic reflectors by measuring the rate of change of direction of a curve. Curvature attribute enables mapping of geological structures, such as folds or faults, which are characterized by high curvature (positive or negative). Figure 1 shows comparison between the before and after anticline curvature attribute applied from the time slice -826, inline 1513 and crossline 2030. Positive curvature show anticline structure, negative curvature shows syncline, whereas curvature will be zero for a straight line. Figure 2 shows that curvature can enhance fault structure visually.
